I had barely settled into my hotel in Italy when the news of Pope Benedict’s resignation hit the airwaves.I had no hand in that one! Day 2 in Rome was reserved for the Vatican City and its near about. You could see day or night ominous dark clouds over the Vatican:

St. Peter’s Basilica is everything you heard about and more! One place where size matters and size brags from every nook and corner and there are moments where it just overwhelms! Fascinating!
