Three Days in Rome – Day 1

Three days are not enough….but I had just three days to discover what  Rome had to offer. Armed with a map I set out to make the most of it all. Nowhere have I seen history staring at you as I saw in Rome.

For Day 1 I chose to walk through the Fori Imperiali, visit the Colloseum and spend the afternoon in the Palatine Hill and Forum,finishing off at the Teatro Marcello and the Vittoria Emmanuelle monument and its surroundings. But as I discovered iconic sights had to be visited during the day as well as at night! So this time around no museums.

Colloseum and Arco di Constantino

The Colloseum itself could take half a day if you include the time standing in a queue for a ticket. Yes,there are quicker ways to beat the queue.

The Roman Forum and Palatine Hill itself can take half a day. There is the

  • Arch of Constantine
  • Via Sara
  • Temple of Venus
  • Arch of Titus
  • Basilica of Maxentus
  • Temple of Vesta
  • House of the Vestal Virgin
  • Temple of Castor
  • Temple of Julius Caesar amongst others
